Fashion blog: A Feast of Fashion

Friday the 17th of May was a rather spectacular one in the Fashion Nanny history books. It entailed two of the most important things in life- food and fashion!

Moyo at Ushaka was hosting the highly anticipated MTV Base Fashion By The Sea event and The Fashion Nanny Team were the first ones to jump for joy at the invite! To mark the occasion and share this spectacular affair with the rest of the good people of Durban, Fashion Nanny took over the Instagram account of local cuisine supreme restaurant, Spiga d’oro. We made sure to document all the exciting things ,building up to the main attraction,as true Instagram addicts do!

The morning started early for the team- so much to do ,so little time! As fashionista’s it was most important to prep our outfits and make sure that we were kitted out for this high profile fashion extravaganza. The team adorned an array of brands from Kirsten Goss to Bloss & Co,and we posed and pouted for a few snaps to document that we did in fact start the night looking fab, before we headed out into the rainy Durban evening.

After walking the red carpet and asserting ourselves at the door, the team stepped into another world. The event had certainly attracted all of our local celebrities, musos and style icons. George,Sabrina,Ornella and myself were most delighted to watch the fresh and fabulous strut their stuff around the plush venue that pulsed with the heavy bass emanating from the DJ’s oversized speakers. Rain may have been able to halt the runway show, but it definitely wasn’t going to stop the people from having a good ol’ time and doing some serious networking.Camera’s flashed, champagne glasses clinked and the team had the pleasure of meeting the likes of designer extraordinaire, David Tlale and East Coast Radio’s Zaba. What a wonderful way to experience first hand that fashion is in fact alive and kicking in the 031!

The trendy all came out of the woodworks to sport their feathers, bedazzled shades, customized clothing and over-the-top ensembles. It was definitely worth the manic stress of getting ready and checking that every hair was in place!Every trend from neons, turbans and rounded shades to camo, loafers and leather could be found in one single crowd!

After ogling at the high profile and fashion forward crowd and snapping a few pics with bloggers and stylista’s alike, we headed over to the Quarters Hotel on Florida Road where we were picked up in Spiga’s branded vehicle and dropped off right outside the entrance to our favourite restaurant. Talk about arriving in style! We were escorted to our table, primely positioned in the front of the busy restaurant and were immediately met with one of Spiga’s finest cocktails-The Hendricks. After a busy night of socializing, the aperitivi and delicious bruschetta starters went down an absolute treat and we excitedly exchanged our star-struck stories with one another! Just when we thought that the night could not possibly get any better, decadent dishes of pizza ,pasta and salad arrived to the table, and let me just say that this FN team breaks all stigmas of the fashion world- we do in fact LOVE to indulge in good food, and what better food is there to satisfy the tummy ,than Spiga’s specialties? The unwavering hospitality didn’t end there, as we finished off the evening with some dolce’ and a toast to a rather successful night!
